Information about LED technology

How does LED work?

Philips Luxeon M ProduktabbildungAn LED (Light Emitting Diode) converts electricity into light with high efficiency. Conventional luminaires convert 95% into heat and only 5% into light. Thus, the energy is used more efficiently with LED and the same brightness is achieved with much lower energy consumption = power consumption.

What is the difference between LED light and conventional light?

LED light contains no ultraviolet (UV) radiation and no infrared rdiation, provides full light without flickering immediately after switching on, gives off little heat and is environmentally friendly. (LED lights and LED tubes contain no mercury, no lead, no gas).

The lifespan of LED lights is about 50,000 hours, which is over 12 years with a daily burning time of 15 hours on 5 days a week. Conventional fluorescent tubes have a useful life of less than two years and require correspondingly frequent tube changes.

When does a conversion make sense?

The exchange can take place at any time and pays off starting from a daily burning time of eight hours. With a useful life of 15 hours a day and 5 days a week, the conversion will pay for itself in about 2 years. In continuous operation of lighting already in just over a year.

A switch to LED lighting can be financed in different ways. With investment financing via leasing, the investment can even be realized completely without own capital investment. Already with a leasing period of 36 months, there will be a monthly liquidity surplus from the time of the conversion (LED power consumption + leasing rate is lower than pure electricity costs before the conversion).

Why change now?

LEDs have proven their worth in the meantime (including the automotive industry) and the manufacturing quality that has now been achieved makes it possible to use them economically for continuous lighting.
